What is xTUService.exe? Uses & Uninstallation Process

If your windows user and you are computer become slow so you check the task manager which process is using a lot of system resource. Then you find xTUService.exe is in task manager.

What is xTUService.exe?

It is an executable program that belongs to Intel Extreme Tuning Utility also known as XTU. This exe file job is to monitor the clock settings of CPU and monitor the voltage supply.

Its size is only 80 KB and file location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility\.

It does two things to help you manage tune overclocking and under voltage of the computer. In simple words, it is responsible for better battery backup, lower CPU temperature, and enhances performance.

xTUService always runs in the background, it need .NET runtime framework.

Should You Remove It?

If it is using a lot of system resources then it is a good idea to uninstall the xTUService from the computer. Don’t worry It will not be a serious problem.

However, try to avoid as much as you can. This is for the better performance of the computer.

How To Uninstall xTUService

  1. Open the control panel, if you don’t know how to find it, search for it.
  2. Go to uninstall Programs
  3. Find Intel Extreme Tuning Utility or MSI Intel Extreme Tuning Utility 
  4. Right-click on it and then select Uninstall.
  5. You may require some extra steps, I can’t uninstall I hope you can understand the reason behind it.
