The Breakaway singer’s happy night came after The Sun exclusively revealed The View’s declining audience ratings. Her pal Alex Duda accepted her prizes on her behalf.
Whoopi, a 66-year-old host of The View, has recently received criticism from fans for her contentious remarks. The Sun has the unique knowledge that this year’s ratings for the week of June 6–10 are down compared to previous years.
The Soap Opera Network reports that 2,285,000 viewers tuned in during the week of June 6.
There were 2,360,000 viewers during the same week in 2021. In 2020, there were 2,586,000 viewers, which resulted in even greater ratings.
The ABC talk show’s ratings are declining as a result of the boycott by viewers. Whoopi used the word “a**” earlier this month when discussing parenting on the daytime talk show.
Whoopi and Sunny’s [Hostin] harsh language was a touch excessive tonight, wrote one fan on Reddit, who wasn’t too fond of the comedian’s vocabulary.
Also, some fans claimed the Ghost actress had been acting strangely in a recent episode.
Whoopi also ran afoul of fans in January when she asserted that the Holocaust was unrelated to race. Although she was momentarily removed from the chat show, the actress’s comment hasn’t been forgotten by the audience.
There was a Change.org petition demanding that Whoopi be relieved of her hosting duties due to her “repulsive verbiage and actions.”
The Democratic National Committee and a number of worried fans initiated the petition, which reads as follows:
“Whoopi has said a lot of things regarding race that have upset people. Her most recent remarks, however, which attacked Holocaust survivors and the whole Jewish community, are abhorrent.
Because of her disgusting words and deeds, we Americans demand that she be sacked from the daytime television program “The View.”
