When he supported Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) earlier this year, actor Kevin Costner said he “didn’t really care how the cookie crumbles” and that he was “OK” with losing supporters because of his political beliefs.
In a new interview with USA Today following the premiere of season five of his popular Paramount series “Yellowstone,” Costner said he has no qualms about endorsing both Cheney in her primary this year and current Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg in the 2020 election.
Costner said, “Just because you fail doesn’t mean you’re done; it doesn’t even mean you’re wrong.
The Republican lawmaker claimed in an Instagram picture from August that Costner was putting “country over party” by donning a pro-Cheney shirt.
According to Costner, who has been a vocal opponent of former President Trump, Cheney wouldn’t have been able to defeat a Trump-backed nominee in the primary. Nevertheless, he wished to stand by her.
Costner said, “I wanted to let her know how much I admired her brave, sensible stance as a citizen.
Although Costner received some censure for his political beliefs, he wasn’t particularly bothered by them.
