HTC Phone Keeps Restarting: Here Is the Reason & Solution

No matter how advanced technology become but we will always face bugs especially after a specific time.

One of those kinds of examples is HTC Phone keep on & off repeatedly. This problem is faced on HTC 620, desire 510, 626, m8, etc

Here I will show why it happens & how you can fix this problem.

While browsing the some forums I have found that several users posting this kind of problems

My friends daughter's HTC Desire 510 has been constantly resetting itself.
Unfortunately I haven't managed to get my hands on it

Apparently, it was fine yesterday and she left it charging overnight only to wake this morning and it turned itself off. Now, when she turned it on, it keeps restarting itself. It won't stay on for more than 30 seconds. She's tried taking the battery out and restarting it, but no good. It won't even stay on long enough for her to do a full reset.
She's been on a forum and all the help she seems to get says "send it off to be fixed" which, of course, is something we'd rather avoid (though I guess it's still in it's warranty period).
I could try to get her to factory reset it in the Hboot menu/recovery but I'm not sure if she's got the FastBoot option ticked in Power Settings.

Why HTC Phones Keep Restarting?

There is no one specific reason behind. It could be due to couple of reasons such as because of defective hardware, power button etc.

For the hardware problems, you have to visit htc mobile service center. But because you don’t know why you are facing this problem So why not try some homemade methods. Maybe you find a solution to your problem

Here are the methods that you can try.

1. Wipe Cache Partition

This single solution sometimes fix the all problems. Cache is basically memory of frequently used application or program for faster speed.

Sometimes cache memory get error due to bugs. But you can fix it by clearing the cache memory.

When cache overload it also makes phone slow. So the another advantage of clearing the cache memory is faster speed.

Here are the steps to clear cache memory

  1. Turn off Your Smartphone; after that, hold the home, volume up & power button. If the home button is a touch button, then you need to hold only the volume up & power button. First, hold the volume button and then power. Sometimes while holding both buttons, I turn on the phone.
  2. When you phone Vibrate, then you can leave both buttons. It will show you the HTC logo then the system recovery menu will appear.
  3. You can navigate to the menu’s using the volume up & down buttons. The touch will not work.
  4. With the help of the volume down button, choose the Wipe Cache Partition. To open this, press the power button.
  5. It will start the cache clearing process. It will not take longer than 1 minute. Once the process is done, it will restart your phone.

Now use your phone for several hours to know if you still facing the restart problem or not.

2. Uninstall the Recent Installed Apps

Sometimes newly installed apps isn’t compatible with our phone. This maybe due to the old programming of the app or phone.

If you are suddenly start facing this problem then uninstall the apps that you have installed few days before this problem.

In the most cases, some heavy android games isn’t compatible with old phones. So make sure you uninstall the apps & games for temporary time.

If apps are big in size or you have some important data then you can backup with the help of mobiletrans

3. Check your Power button

Check your power button is it working properly or not. Sometimes power button got stuck.

Just press a couple of times, to see Is it lock the smartphone or not. In case this isn’t smooth & not working properly then you need mobile hardware repair.

You can also try some by yourself. But to fix this problem permanently you need repair or your power button.

In most scenario power button isn’t responsible for this just double-check maybe your problem is different than others.

4. Phone Over Using

The phone restart problem is common android gamers. If you also play too much heavy games on your phone then it makes your phone hot.

So then phone program decide it shutdown for safety purposes. Not only games, some heavy android apps can responsible for this.

Continuous 4G using, GPS location can also warm up your HTC phone.

5. Factory Reset

If this is due to hardware problem then Factory reset will fix this problem. The only reason to avoid it is you will lose your data.

Sometimes this restart problem isn’t allow users to backup their phone data. But if you can backup your mobile data then you can use some third party apps or software to backup before resetting your phone.

You can reset your phone from the Settings app But if this problem doesn’t allow you to open the Settings app then try the following method.

  3. As you can see in the screenshot, the second option is to wipe the data/factory reset. You need to select this. Use your volume buttons to change the menu & power button to select.
Note: Power button + volume is universal for most android phones. If didn't lead you to system recovery then search for your specific mobile on the internet. You can also contact the HTC service center for this.

In the most scenario, factory reset fix the restart phone problem. But if it didn’t then this is hardware problem. That lead you Next Method

Hardware Problem

With time, hardware doesn’t remain as powerful as it was in the earlier days. Every single thing come to the end.

You can visit the HTC service center. But keep this option as last. Because if you first time tried to do then chances are high company employees reset the phone instead of making hardware changes.

My recommendation is to change the phone. Companies in these don’t put the best hardware. Because if they do so then you will not buy new phones earlier. It means less profit for the company.

This is the sad reality of today’s smartphone industry. So yeah, if factory reset didn’t solved your problem then considering changing your phone.

Final Words

There are so other solutions as well such as installing android firmware. But if factory reset didn’t solve your problem you need a NEW smartphone.
